Jayapura, which is usually the main entry to Papua is served from Jakarta and various other cities in Indonesia. The airport is actually outside Jayapura in Sentani. Wamena and Merauke are usually served from Jayapura. However flights in Papua can get very full and early booking can be necessary, particularly on major business routes and during the major holiday periods. Missionary flights may also go to various smaller destinations in Papua and seats may be made available to travellers, if available.
